Wilfried Maria



Danner studied composition at the Folkwang University Essen from 1974 – 1983 in the master class of Hans Werner Henze and electronic composition at the Conservatory Cologne (Kölner Musikhochschule) under Hans Ulrich Humpert. He completed his education under further composition heroes of the 20th century like György Ligeti in Darmstadt, Olivier Messiaen in Paris and Luciano Berio in Siena and at the IRCAM-Institute (Centre Pompidou) in Paris.

Teaching assignments have taken him inter alia to the University of Duisburg, Universidad Rio Piedras in San Juan and the conservatories of Brussels and Geneva. 1988 he received the Rome-Prize (Award), 1989/90 he was “composer in residence” of the Hamburg State Opera, from 1990 until 1995 of the German Opera in Berlin. His compositions were performed in many German cities as well as in Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy, France, Spain, in South America and in the U.S.A. Today W. M. D. lives in Cologne.
